The ULA staff estimates that approximately 85% of the 330 young people empowered by the ULA program have received some college education. Examples of these youth who continue to devote their lives to servant leadership in the urban community are:
Arsheki Banks
ULA 2000 graduate
She is now a pastor at Chicago City Church after having served as the youth pastor at Inner City Church of Minneapolis for several years. Arsheki has led several urban mission trips with youth from these churches and is continually involved in street outreaches in inner-city Chicago.
Marketa Smith
ULA 2000 graduate
She is now the leader of a Master’s Commission program in urban Denver at Trinity Church in Cedar Hill, which works with young adults in an intensive discipleship training school and ministry preparation program. Marketa has been a leader in Master’s Commission for several years, and is now heading up this new program.
Simon McConico
ULA 2000 graduate
He is ministering at Milwaukee Mission, primarily working with children and youth. Simon served as the staff intern at Christ Church International, as well as a leader in student ministries at North Central University.
Kristen Talbert
ULA 2003 graduate
She is currently a senior at the University of Minnesota, studying Native American culture and history. She is an officer of the American Indian Student Cultural Center. During the summer Kristen traveled to several reservations to work with young people and to teach the Lakota language.
